Gabrielle Roy is considered by many to be one of the most important Francophone writers in Canadian history and one of the most influential Canadian authors.

Gabrielle's works have garnered many literary awards including:

  • The Governor General's Award three times

  • In 1967 she was made a Companion of the Order of Canada
