Jack Kruschen started his career as a dramatic actor, then moved on to be a film actor in 1949. He became a television actor in 1956 when he had a role in an episode of Gunsmoke.

He was nominated for an Academy Award as Best Supporting Actor for his role in 1960's "The Apartment."
