Susan Auch (speed skater)

Susan Auch is a Canadian speed-skater who has competed in 5 Winter Olympics games.

She had her initial training in Winnipeg, and then later in Calgary, Alberta.

In Winter Olympics games she has won:

  • In 1988 she won a bronze in the 3000 m. relay in Calgary
  • In 1994 she won silver in the 500 m. event in Lillehammer, Norway
  • In 1998 she won silver in the 500 m in Nagano, Japan

In 1999 Susan retired from competition, but then changed her mind and competed in 2002 for the fifth time in Salt Lake City, but failed to win a medal. After those Olympics, she again retired for good.

A long track speed skating oval in Winnipeg was named after Susan Auch.

In 2003, Susan Auch was inducted into the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame and Museum.

Susan Auch ran for the Conservative Party in the Assiniboia district in the 2011 election but came in 2nd.
