Winnipeg Royal Canadian Mint

The Winnipeg Mint is our high-tech, high-volume manufacturing facility. All of Canada's circulation coinage is produced here - literally billions of coins each year. Established in 1976, the Winnipeg plant occupies a 14,864 square-metre state-of-the-art facility. We encourage you to visit this techno-wonder of the minting world! Guided tours are available throughout the year (during listed hours only).

An ongoing capital investment program keeps our Winnipeg plant on the leading edge of technology. In 1996, two new high-speed presses were added to meet the demand for 300 million two-dollar coins - produced in the record time of just nine months. The coins, plated blanks, tokens and trade dollars minted here are quality-checked using mostly automated systems due to the sheer volume of production.
