The Winnipeg Fringe Festival is an annual alternative, second-largest and longest North American, festival of its kind. Total attendance has reached been around 150,000. It is common for a small number of shows to be held over past the festival's official end date.

The Winnipeg Fringe Festival features many groups who may not otherwise have the opportunity to reach an audience.
