The Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre (MTC), founded in 1958 by John Hirsch and Tom Hendry, is Canada's oldest English-language regional theatre.

The Winnipeg Little Theatre and Theatre 77 were amalgamated to create MTC.

The MTC has the third highest annual attendance than any other theatre in the country.

The theatre receive royal designation from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 2010 and officially became the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre.

Each year MTC produces six Mainstage productions and four Warehouse Theatre Productions.
